I’ve never been much of a dog person. I like dogs but don’t?socialize with them on a regular basis. Then C.C. came into my life . . .
I mean look at her- how could you not love her. ?She’s a work of art. ?So I now own a dog and socialize with her but that’s about it. ?I don’t buy her outfits, I don’t gush about her at social functions,?put bows in her hair, nor attend puppy parties,?and I had never taken her to a dog park. ?So, when our friend Ashley invited us to a puppy-party at the puppy-park, I thought she was nuts. ?But who am I to shut the door on a new experience, so I grabbed my camera and favorite lens, deciding to make the most of it.

And here was the birthday dog, as if it wasn’t obvious, Annie. ?She not only had a very pink and spirited birthday hat but her parents also brought her a cake . . . a dog-cake,?shaped?as a bone, made with dog food and topped off with peanut butter frosting. ?I thought I had seen it all.

This is Annie’s best friend. ?Forgive me, I have forgotten his name. ?

As you can see C.C. was meeting a lot of new dogs, catching up with old ones, and having a blast. You couldn’t hold her down. ?She made sure to sniff every butt in the park. ?As she sniffed, I snapped. ?I was also having a blast. ?I’ve never seen so many personalities running around at once. ?It sort-of reminded me of high-school- there were so many different groups of dogs.

There were the cool dogs- who got along with everybody,?
the?cheerleaders-?who simply barked,?

the jocks- running back and forth chasing each other, then the ball, then each other, then the ball . . . just like in high school, they confused me but I admired their energy,

the stoners- lounging lazily, with eyes half-lit, on the sun-soaked benches,
and the class clowns- always there to make you laugh. ?That’s where C.C. fit in. ?She was awkward and sloppy and hilarious.

After a few hours in the dog park we took C.C. to “U Wash Doggie” for a nice long bath. ?It was a good day. ?Ok, yes it was a great day- I get it now but I still refuse to put bows in her hair.
