This has been the most amazing year! For those of you who don’t know me, I’ve been in the photography business for awhile but only recently started up my own company. Jen Castle Photography was legally bought and born on December 15th 2008 and I am in awe over the success it has been gifted. Within that year I had an incredible amount of weddings, events, babies, travel, social networking, and adventure. I was definitely busy and for that I will always be grateful. That being said, now that 2010 has arrived, I plan on doubling all of it- my knowledge, address book, social circles, goals, co-workers, clients, compliments and even ego (hey a lil more confidence never hurt anyone). I want to humbly kick 2010′s ass. I am so so grateful for the tremendous fire that has been lit within my soul because of this company. Thank you to my clients, friends, followers, and family for the level of support that you have consistently given. Now, if you have a moment I’d like to share with you some of my favorites from 2009 . . . .

Yup, let the holiday portraits continue . . . Meet baby Jayden.? I instantly fell in love with her cute lil bald head, rosy cheeks, and cheerful disposition.? She was up for anything, a fly by the seat of her pants kinda gal.? We started at the park and then covered every square inch of her home.? She was a trooper through it all.? In fact, her entire family was exquisitely charming and so much fun to work with.?? I look forward to working with them again in the future.

Jayden’s mother informed me, about a week later, that Jayden hadn’t had a proper nap before the shoot . . . Can’t you tell?? She looks really cranky here right?? What a trooper.

This is when I know it might be time to wrap it up.? This is one of my favorite shots though.? Maybe mom wouldn’t agree, I don’t know, but I think her brief (brief) moment of crankiness is cute here.

And I always love watching how each child interacts with their parents.? There were some really tender moments that came out of this session.

All in all, it was a good session with grade A greeting-card potential.? Happy Holidays everyone!

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a NUT for Christmas.? I adore Christmas and all of it’s extravagant traditions- ?hot apple cider, diva decor, scented candles, Bing Crosby, mistletoe, “Home for the Holidays,” baked goods coated in powdered sugar, old dilapidated (cause they’ve been passed down 3 times too many) ornaments, one fresh Christmas tree, the long hours spent nestled beneath blinking branches and of coarse the Christmas cards. ?Every year, I usually set some time aside to pick out my Christmas cards. ?They must be perfect- colorful, whimsical, positive, emotional, and always with matching envelopes. ?Seriously people, This is not something I take lightly. ?There is great pride to be had in the choices behind one’s Christmas cards. ?So what were mine this year? . . . . ?you’re looking at it. ?Twas a busy month for me, fulfilling the portrait goals of my fellow Christmas card junkies, and I missed my mailing window. ?Instead, I rang up?Robin Manno-?photographer extraordinaire?as well as all-around good friend, and created the goal that I would have portraits this year, at the very least. ?I mean if we couldn’t have cards, we needed pictures. ?At least a picture could spice up the email that was now going to replace my traditional card. ?Robin agreed and excitedly began preparing her lights and seamless paper while Joe, Hoshi and myself quickly dressed (in our sassiest threads),?jumped into the car, and rushed on over to Robin’s home studio. ?We were there for exactly one hour and shot approximately one hundred pics. ?I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. ?I normally hate being in front of the camera but Robin made it a breeze, which didn’t surprise me in the least since she is my number one “go-to gal” for the seconding of all my weddings. ? She has a keen journalistic eye and is great with people. ?During our session, Joe and I were able to breath freely, interact naturally, and simply play with one another while Robin documented it all. ?Some of the pictures are incredibly silly but that’s who we are at times, just a couple of geeky goofballs.

Robin- you rock my world. ?Thanks for such a fun session.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

XO
