Meet Rajpal and Ryan. They’ve been together for seven years, engaged for two and recently decided to get eloped! No big crowds, no fuss, no crazy conundrums. Just he, she and a priest, alone on the breathtaking shores of “Little Dune,” a private beach and local surf spot in Malibu. Just south of Big Dume, it’s small in size, surrounded by cliffs  and only accessible by an unmarked trail. It worked as the perfect California setting for this intimate elopement.

By keeping the ceremony to just the three of them they were able to focus solely on each other while maintaining a few of their favorite traditions. My favorites were the colors worn by both of them- the red silk saree, silver/red bangles and henna painted hands, worn by the bride and the red Sherwani, worn by the groom. So exquisite.

Right away, as we shot their post-ceremony portraits, I could visibly see the love between them. After so many years of dating, they still flirt, laugh, play practical jokes with one-another and fit comfortably within each others arms. They know who they are, they’re a team and I loved documenting them. Were there some nerves at first? Of course, there always is, especially when I introduce my lenses but by keeping it about them and taking a few steps back, I was able to capture them candidly and with ease. (yay!)  By time we did the close-up shots, they were pros.

I absolutely adore these two and have stayed connected with them since. Rajpal is a kick a*s accountant and Ryan produces movie magic. If you need anyone in those fields, please let me know. I mean, who doesn’t need an kick a*s accountant and some movie magic right? Congrats again Rajpal and Ryan. I wish you much success and look forward to our paths crossing again and again.

Once upon a time…

in a cyber-space community within L.A. (the E-Harmony community to be specific) there lived the profiles of Kellie and Anthony. Within those profiles there lied common likes, quirks and sensibilities and upon viewing, they both instantly knew they were going to be completely compatible.  So they chatted over the phone, emailed back and forth and then finally decided to meet in person on April 1st of 2007, at Barney’s Beanery in Santa Monica. Their first date was a roaring success and they’ve been together five years since. When Anthony decided to propose, he did so with elegance and class, while requesting the help from a few of their closest friends. 100 tea lights were carefully laid out throughout their Los Angeles home, pointing the way to a carefully crafted anniversary dinner, a ring, and a question.

Their wedding took place at the “Malibou Lake Mountain Club” which provided them with a classic garden-like backdrop. Surrounded by vibrant colors and fragrant aromas, it was the perfect environment for them in which to announce their vows. Their Reception matched the colorful theme by bringing navy blues and summery oranges to every table. Flowers, by Yamaguchi Flowers, rewarded every eye and the cake, by Sweet Design, rewarded every sweet tooth. Once announced, they danced to “Let’s Stay Together,” by Al Green. It was a rich and colorful day, surrounded by loving family and cherished friends.

Becca and Raymond have shared a fairy-tale romance. They met within the theater and were engaged within the theater. Raymond proposed to Becca during their run of “A Midsummer Nights Dream,” where they played the parts of the Fairy King and Queen- Oberon and Titania. So it just made sense to have their wedding reflect a similar theme. Their wedding came complete with a lush forest, horses, peasants, fairies and wood nymphs. It was an enchanting day, to say the least, that ended with Becca serenading her new husband to the tune of “Someone to Watch Over Me.” Here’s a sneak peek . . .
