Meet Rajpal and Ryan. They’ve been together for seven years, engaged for two and recently decided to get eloped! No big crowds, no fuss, no crazy conundrums. Just he, she and a priest, alone on the breathtaking shores of “Little Dune,” a private beach and local surf spot in Malibu. Just south of Big Dume, it’s small in size, surrounded by cliffs and only accessible by an unmarked trail. It worked as the perfect California setting for this intimate elopement.
By keeping the ceremony to just the three of them they were able to focus solely on each other while maintaining a few of their favorite traditions. My favorites were the colors worn by both of them- the red silk saree, silver/red bangles and henna painted hands, worn by the bride and the red Sherwani, worn by the groom. So exquisite.
Right away, as we shot their post-ceremony portraits, I could visibly see the love between them. After so many years of dating, they still flirt, laugh, play practical jokes with one-another and fit comfortably within each others arms. They know who they are, they’re a team and I loved documenting them. Were there some nerves at first? Of course, there always is, especially when I introduce my lenses but by keeping it about them and taking a few steps back, I was able to capture them candidly and with ease. (yay!) By time we did the close-up shots, they were pros.
I absolutely adore these two and have stayed connected with them since. Rajpal is a kick a*s accountant and Ryan produces movie magic. If you need anyone in those fields, please let me know. I mean, who doesn’t need an kick a*s accountant and some movie magic right? Congrats again Rajpal and Ryan. I wish you much success and look forward to our paths crossing again and again.
