Like a chapter straight out of “The Wonder Years,” David and Jaclyn grew up down the street from each other. They saw each other often but it wasn’t until they grew older that they started spending quality time with one another. In fact, when this Classic New Jersey Italian gal and this modern-rocking Egyptian man began hanging out for the first time, they both fell quickly in love and have been in love with each other for six years since. When David made the decision to propose, he went for gold- bending on one knee at one of their favorite locations… the happiest place on earth… Disney World of course! And he did it all within the Magic Kingdom. She said yes and their wedding plans continued from there in true fairy-tale fashion, with a rocker twist that is.

Anyone that knows these two understands that they love everything to do with music, rock mainly, but there really isn’t a genre that they don’t like and they make sure to often attend most of the concerts on their top 20 list.  So it was no surprise when their wedding theme also carried a strong rock-like influence. Their colors contained a rich flaming red, complemented with deep purple accents. Concert tickets were distributed to the guests as table placement cards and the couple’s Favorite albums were displayed in place of table numbers. Each table had one album, from “The Beatles” to My “Chemical Romance” and each was illuminated with a colorful display of candles, water vases and orchids for their center pieces. The entire performance was housed by the ridiculously gorgeous venue, “The Liberty House.” The Liberty House is located in Jersey City and over-looks the Hudson as well as the New York skyline. The view?… nothing short of Rockstar. Truly. Rockstar.

Converse were present everywhere and the boys had custom cufflinks made.

The Groom’s family was the os-so-talented artist behind the Wedding cake, a four-tier heavy metal silver-lined cake from, “The Gourmet Desserts Outlet.” And the Flowers were designed by: Natasha at “Blooms for You,” in Bayonne. A string quartet was used for the ceremony as well as the cocktail hour and they performed a variety of classic rock/grunge favorites. Oh, and their signature drink?… The Love Buzz (also a song by Nirvana)… naturally.

Their honeymoon location will ultimately be Italy and France but they’re taking a small break from all of the planning first before they go. In the meantime, congratulations again David and Jaclyn!

On December 21, 2012… the world didn’t end. Yep that’s how this post opens because that is how my latest couple met, at an “End of the World” party, thrown by a mutual friend. Guests were asked to come dance, celebrate and enjoy a few beverages as they counted down their last moments on earth, as prophesied by the ancient Mayan Calendar. Well the end of the world didn’t happen and so Shannon and Jeff were then free to take their first date together. Two years and four months later, Jeff decided to propose, on a kayak, in the middle of Puerto Vallarta Mexico. I mean, does it get more original and romantic than that?!

She said yes of course!

Their wedding took place at The Wedgewood Eagle Ridge, a private golf and Country Club in Gilroy, California. This venue is wrapped in green, lined with palm trees and surrounded by an expansive backdrop of mountains. So naturally, most of the wedding took place outside.

The bride and groom had decided not to see each other before the ceremony but found a moment to hold hands, share their love and say a silent prayer together, just before the ceremony.

Although Shannon’s parents couldn’t be there, she made sure to keep them close. This locket, designed by: Origami Owl, was given to her by a friend and was wrapped around Shannon’s bouquet so her parents could be with her every step of the way.

Their colors were red and creme. Debbie Hernandez at I Do Wedding Cakes was the artist behind their beautiful three-tier wedding cake, lined with a colorful pop of red roses. As guests approached the reception, they were directed to their appropriate tables with movie tickets; tickets to Shannon and Jeff’s favorite romance flicks and each table was titled appropriately. Shortly after lunch was served, the Bride and Groom danced their first dance to “Here comes the Sun” by the Beatles and then, the dancing never seemed to end. It was an electric dance floor, filled with energy, excitement and love for the newly wed couple.

Emily and Ryan have been together for three years now. They met at their place of work, flirted here and there and then decided to go out one night after work. My favorite part is that Emily broke the ice first by asking Ryan if he wanted to get a drink. In his words: “I was already curious about her. I knew when she asked to get a drink, she was interested too. It wasn’t a date, but it felt like one.”  They immediately hit it off. Before the night was over, Ryan asked her out on a formal date and they’ve been together ever since.

These two are adorable, quirky, sweet and just simply awesome. In working with my couples during their engagement shoot, I always get a great sense of who they are and how they work together. These two are the best balance to each other; they compliment each other in such a positive way and they are always laughing. Emily also happens to be a florist, creating some of the most beautiful floral arrangements I have ever seen. Because of this talent, she has an amazing eye for detail and style. She made sure to style her engagement shoot and wow did she look stunning- from her accessories, to the gown, to Ryan’s boots, I loved it all. All of the details were personal and well thought out which gave me a lot to work with.

Ryan decided to set his proposal beside the old Colorado Street Bridge, amongst the trees and a setting sun. They took a  brisk hike then took a break beneath the bridge. He then asked her to marry him.  This was actually their first time back to the bridge, since he proposed, which made the shoot that much more meaningful. We all got a little teary eyed with excitement

“Our Wedding is the next adventure of many. It’s hard to explain, but sometimes you just know when everything is right.” -Ryan

I adore this couple and I cannot wait to document their wedding.
