Meet Karin and Mark, an adorable couple who met and fell in love in within the state of Texas. Karen came to Mark’s work for a job interview and in Mark’s own words, “When I first met Karin, she was stunning, standing tall and confident in her black skirt suit. She was telling a story. Her expressions were honest and sincere. My heart pounded. I had to meet her. She was exactly what I wanted – a beautiful business minded woman with grace and integrity.” Sweet right? Truth be told though, they were both nervously excited upon meeting each other for the first time and those nerves have carried them 5 years since. To this day, they still continue to feel “butterflies.” So on their fifth year, Mark asked Karin to be his bride. In planning the wedding, they both opted for the no fuss, non-stress approach, deciding that a wedding at their local Memphis court house might be best. However, googling the process had dashed their hopes because they soon realized that even civil ceremonies require a ton planning! So they set off into planning a magical and enchanting backyard wedding, set to the tune of Karin’s childhood home in Topanga Canyon, sharing and embracing the old with the new.

Because the wedding took place in Topanga, I decided to take advantage of the local landscape. Stony Point Park was where we laid our scene for the portraits.
Because the wedding was set outdoors, the color pallet was infused with lush shades of green and their wedding color of choice- rustic purples with romantic shades of peach as an accent. Their cake was produced to perfection by Porto’s Bakery, a local bakery in Glendale, and was topped off with two purple love birds. The entire backyard had a warm and inviting feel with candlelight being its primary source of ambiance; floating candles within the pool and tea lights were at every turn. Rosebuds hung by the dozens, from every branch of every tree. It was exactly want they wanted- low key and romantic, surrounded by only their closest family and friends. In their own words, “It was uniquely ours.”

Congratulation Karin and Mark, on five years of bliss and many more to come.
